Senior Website Designer (Romford, Essex)

Lucas Lynch requires a Senior Website Designer to assist in the design, build and development of high quality websites. The successful candidate will lead our creative team and report to the creative director and project manager.

You will be responsible for leading the creative team in the design and build of web projects for SME’s and have direct responsibility for many large corporate projects. You will need to have excellent experience in CSS and a good working knowledge of Flash would be an advantage. You will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of website usability and search engine optimisation techniques. Your work will be fully compliant with the latest standards and you will understand how to work in a source-safe, multi-worker, large project environment.

You must be able to demonstrate a high level of creative competency and be self sufficient with regard to leading the creative team.

The role has excellent growth prospects within the company and the successful candidate will be given full training and support.

Candidates will ideally be Apple Mac proficient, although we are a multi platform company.


Experience preferred:

• Minimum of 4-5 years commercial experience in the development of websites
• Commercial experience in the development of HTML websites using advanced CSS.
• Basic working knowledge of flash is required, although a greater understanding and ability of flash would be preferred.
• Experience of Photoshop and Illustrator is essential, with experience of Freehand and other similar software an advantage.
• Experience of working with Content Management Systems would be useful, with an appreciation of and ability to take into account the dynamic relationship between the web development process and ongoing client-side content management. In particular exposure to the Sitecore CMS would be ideal.
• Appreciation of how your work fits into and impacts on the wider development process with the ability to interact constructively with other members of your team and other teams (Technical and SEO/SEM)


Skills required:

• Highly proficient at hand-coding in advanced CSS and XHTML with an excellent grasp of web standards and accessibility issues
• Ability to build websites using table-less, CSS-based layouts
• A good eye for design and the ability to take a concept design and extend and apply it to a whole website.
• Ability to quickly pick up and adapt to new technologies and ways of working
• Ability to use your own initiative to find solutions and solve problems as you work
• Extremely methodical and logical approach to your work, with the ability to work within and adhere to predefined systems and structures while maintaining a look-out for ways of improving efficiency


Other desired knowledge, skills and experience:

• Experience of website development
• Experience and good understanding of accessibility guidelines and standards
• Knowledge of website and email marketing
• Understanding of the importance of personal development and ability to work toward achieving agreed actions
• Ability to lead a growing team of designers and manage projects within your team
• Ability to work as a part of a team, contributing and sharing best practises/ knowledge / resources and ideas
• Understanding of the importance of demonstrating respect and confidentiality regarding company and client information
• Ability to provide analytical and insightful recommendations to clients and team

Salary: £25,000 > £35,000 depending on experience
